Adventures of Motherhood

I am a harried mother of three kids who move at light speed and a husband who lives in a world of words. If that isn't enough, I teach in an elementary school as I slowly watch my hair turn gray.

Mommy and Dahlia Day

It was another Mommy and Dahlia day today. Dahlia and I both had our haircuts today. Although I have to admit that I had mine done in the morning and she had hers done in the afternoon. She doesn't understand that I need a little me time every once in a while.

I happened to cut mine shorter than it's been in a long time. Dahlia decided she wanted to cut hers that short as well. She now has a chin length bob. I was really worried, but she looks gorgeous (absolutely no prejudice here!)

After she had it done, she was practically glowing. "It bounces in the wind Mommy!" Of course we had to go and get some new head bands, hair clips, leave in conditioner and nail polish. The $10 hair cut was accessorized with $40 worth of stuff!

Did you notice I said nail polish? That's right our Mommy and Dahlia days always include doing our nails. Sometimes we have a girls day in and do our nails. I look forward to the day when Dahlia does mine, after I do hers.

The girl can drive me crazy. She is so stubborn and she has a shriek that I'm sure can shatter glass, but I love that every month to 6 weeks we just reconnect and be the girls. I hope this will allow us to continue to share with each other, further done the road.

When she has these maddening episodes, like tonight's bedtime (she is currently sleeping on the couch, legs up against the back of the couch and her head hanging over the edge. She is the bookend to her younger brother who is sleeping on the other end of the couch!) I hope I can remember they great time we had today and that it carries me until our next Mommy and Dahlia day.

I only have boys and love my time with them, but I would love to have a girl so I have someone to share those "girl" moments with! How nice!

Hopefully, this day will stay locked in the memory bank for a very long time to come!! It's days like this that make parenting the best!

I have a daughter with a strong will and then one day it hit me. Would I want a daughter any other way?
I think it is great you are rasing a daughter to let her opinion be known and not afraid to express what she wants. It is tough at times being the mom of a child like this but if guided in the right direction she will make you proud!
