Adventures of Motherhood

I am a harried mother of three kids who move at light speed and a husband who lives in a world of words. If that isn't enough, I teach in an elementary school as I slowly watch my hair turn gray.

Little Man Turns 7!

It's hard to believe, but my little love-bug is turning 7 today. My little monkey who makes my heart sing is growing up and there's nothing I can do to stop it. Sigh!

He's a little bundle of energy who is smart, inquisitive with an amazing sense of humour.....absolutely no prejudice here! :-)

The house is all decorated (balloons, signs, streamers). He only asked me about 10 times if I was going to do it. It has become a tradition, for each birthday child (even daddy, too) I make signs on the computer and decorate the house so they wake up on their special day surrounded with birthday surprises. They never know where they will find them. I even put posters and balloons in the bathroom.

Noah has his day planned. I am to make, Mommy's famous pancakes. (Thanks Aunt Jemima! :-)) I didn't know my pancakes were famous, but if he thinks so, okay!

He has already requested that he get to open his presents before breakfast. He was very specific, before I make breakfast, not before we eat it.

My in-laws are visiting and are leaving in the morning, so we are going to have birthday cake before lunch, before they leave.

He wants to play with his presents ( he already asked for some Wii games) and just assumes (correctly) that he got them. In the late afternoon we are going to see the Simpsons movie ( I know he's only 7, but he watches the show with his dad and siblings) and then we'll be off to Burger King for supper. He's so funny, "Do you know why I want to go to Burger King? Because they have the Simpson toys with the meals" You've got to love a kid who has priorities on straight.

He just amazes me. I can't believe how much he's grown. I love how he interacts with his siblings, family, friends, the dog and us. I can't wait to watch him grow into the wonderful man he is going to be. He's going to be something really special, because he already is.

Happy birthday Love-bug! I hope all that you are dreaming for comes true for you, today, tomorrow and always. I love you!

I am going to go up and hug him one more time, while he is still a six year old. I can't wait to give him his hugs when he is seven!

I'm Home!!

I got up at 3:30 am to catch a 5:30 flight to bring me home today. Boy, am I tired!! It was bittersweet coming home. I was homesick for most of the 10 days days I was away (I must admit it flew bye!) and couldn't wait to see Carmi, the kids and the dog but at the same time it was hard to leave my parents.

Thank you for every one's kind thoughts. My mom is home from the hospital. She has a severe infection and will be treated with intravenous antibiotics for the next 6 weeks or so. She is doing much better, but has difficulty walking and is basically home bound until she heals. It puts a lot of pressure on my dad. He and I ran around after all day hospital visits and once she came home it seemed were constantly running around doing errands or working in the house. This is when I wish we never moved away.

Carmi, my sweet husband managed just fine without me. The house never looked better! The kitchen is spotless and he did a ton of laundry. Thank you, Carmi. I could never have been able to go and help out my parents without your help.

The kids were great. The greeting I got at the airport from all 5 of them (yes, Frasier was there, too!) was unbelievable. It's kind of worth it to go away to get a greeting like that. Makes you feel appreciated.

I hope that you've all had a great couple of weeks and that you're enjoying your summer.

Thanks again for all your kinds wishes!

It's hard to live so far away....

I have always looked at moving away from Montreal as an adventure, but it's hard to live so far away. As I get older, so do my parents. My mom is in the hospital, complications from a minor procedure has led to a big infection. I'm off to Montreal for 10 days. I want to be there to help, especially when she gets home. I know she will be fine, (I have to think positively!) but this is my mommy, so I can't help but worry.

My family will be fine...Carmi is a great dad and the kids are great kids and they will manage just fine without me, but I will miss them. I'll be able to talked to them on the phone and email them. I'll miss my little puppy. I know I will go crazy when I see other dogs...I will miss my cutiepie. I know it will go quickly. I'm grateful that this happened over the summer when I'm off from school, so I can afford the time away.

Check in on Carmi, provide him with your Internet support! I will try to connect with all of you from Montreal.

Have a safe and wonderful couple of weeks!

The Anniversary Present

As you can see below, Carmi and I celebrated our 15th anniversary yesterday. We don't usually get each other anything, we spend the day together and exchange nice cards. I got a beautiful bouquet of pink roses. We decided to buy a metal patio set. It is gorgeous, but came in a million pieces.

I joked, we bought it for our anniversary but were probably going to get a divorce over putting it together.

All kidding aside, just love the patio and that great guy!

Happy weekend everyone!

Happy Anniversary

Carmi and I celebrated our 15th anniversary yesterday. We have followed the tradition of spending the day together (without the kids) and went to the beach. (A special thank you to our friend Shannon, who picked up the kids, entertained them, fed them and took care of them, so we would could have our special day without worrying about the time!) What a lovely day. We spent most of the day reminiscing about our life together. We are married for 15 and together for 23. It was so nice. Words can't describe the feelings that I am feeling.

Carmi is my best friend. Like anyone else we have our ups and downs, but our love for each other always gets us through. It's amazing to see all the changes that have occurred in the last 15 years... 3 wonderful, smart, beautiful and funny kids, a delightful dog, a home, and a life that I really love.

Fifteen years has gone by in a snap, but at the same time I can't really remember at time when we weren't together.

Our life has been one adventure after another and I look forward to all the many adventures ahead.
