Adventures of Motherhood

I am a harried mother of three kids who move at light speed and a husband who lives in a world of words. If that isn't enough, I teach in an elementary school as I slowly watch my hair turn gray.

Painting's all done!

The painting is all done! They worked until 7:30 Tuesday night and 9:30 last night and they got it all done. One day ahead of schedule! It looks pretty amazing. The hallway didn't come out the right colour. It was supposed to be in a 2 tone latte colour, but is more a pinky than a brown. I love it, anyway. The kitchen is my least favourite. I loved the colour yesterday, but today, I'm just not sure. Carmi loves as long as one of us does, it's ok.

The next thing we tackle are the floors. We're hoping to take care of them in a couple weeks. Ideally, I want to get this all fixed up before I go back to school, the last week of August.

It sure looks pretty in here!

The only problem with fixing one thing, is you start seeing the other things that need to be done. We need to put new air registers in, lighting fixtures, paint the patio doors, blinds....the list goes.

By the time we have this place finished we won't want to go anywhere!

What are you working on in your house?

There are paint fumes in the air!

Since we knew that 2 of the 3 would be away this week, we arranged to have the main floor painted this week. I didn't realize just how much garbage we had. It took forever to clean out the living room and hallway. The kitchen will be last so it's only about 80% ready.

Those of you have been to our house, please rest easy. The unpainted bathroom (for about 4 or 5 years now) will finally be painted. We peeled the wallpaper and then never painted it. We decided not to do the work ourselves this time. In all our married life (16 years) we have always painted ourselves. But now we just don't have the time, energy or skills to get it done.

They started yesterday, and other than concerns that the colours are not right, it's been pretty stress free. Keith our painter and I have alternately been waffling back and forth on whether the colours that were mixed, were right. I will keep you posted!

In the meantime, we live with the paint fumes...not so bad and we excitedly plan how we are going to set up the rooms!

Hi ho, hi ho it's off to Bubby's House we go

Noah is enjoying being an only child, even if it's only for 1 week. Zach and Dahlia went back to Montreal with my parents. There was a lot of excitement leading up to the day. Dahlia was thrilled that she was finally old enough to go (the rule is, that you have to be 10). Zach on the other hand was none too pleased that he had to share the trip with her.

It's weird to have only one child. I miss them so much already, but it's also kind of nice. Noah has never had the opportunity to be the only child and he's loving the attention. Meanwhile, the older two are happily enjoying the attention of 2 sets of grandparents and feeling quite grown-up without mom and dad!

It's definitely quieter that's for sure....but I miss the hugs and kisses. I couldn't wait for them to go and now I can't wait for them to come home!
